Could I access the search tool through API?

Hi, I would like to use the tool through API but it is not set up. I am looking to search for a few hundred strings, to obtain both their occurrences and the number of unique documents they appear in. Could the API endpoint be set up? Is there anyway I can do this? Please let me know, my email is jtwei@usc.edu. Thanks!
I also need to access the index by API. Any update?
